Orlando Lutheran crushes Orangewood Christian

Orlando Lutheran kept its playoff hopes alive in a 48-7 win over Orangewood Christian in a 1B, District 4 game.

Lutheran (5-3, 3-2) compiled 308 first-half yards and stayed in the hunt for the second playoff spot in 1B-4. Adam Czaplewski threw for two first-half touchdowns on the way to a 32-7 halftime lead.

Anthony Bruder and Aaron Virgilio both caught and ran for scores for the Crusaders while DB John Parisi added two returns for touchdowns.

Jordan Scott led the Rams (3-5, 2-3) with 48 yards on the ground.

Lady Crusaders season ends in disappointment;
Record number of wins spotlight 2009 season

10/30/09 -- The Lady Crusaders suffered a disappointing District Semifinal loss to eventual district champion, Foundation Academy on Tuesday night 25-17, 25-8, 25-14. Despite the loss, it does not diminish one of the most successful seasons in 20 years with a season record of 17-10.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and staff for all your hard work, discipline, and dedication to making the 2009 season special!

10/27/09 -- CONGRATULATIONS to the Lady Crusaders after winning their opening round District match against Windermere Prep 25-23, 25-20, 25-13! Their record improves to 17-9.

The Lady Crusader varsity volleyball team finished the regular season with a record of 16-9, 2-3 in District, and 4-1 in Mid-Florida Christian Conference!

Round 1 of Districts begins Monday, October 26 at 6pm vs. Windermere Prep.  All Districts games are played at Foundation Academy (15304 Tilden Rd., Winter Garden, Fl 34787).

 
Golf

(9/15/09) - The Crusaders improved to (2-0) on the season with a 197-218 victory over Covenant Christian at The Habitat Golf Course in Malabar, FL.  Josh Postlewait led the team with a low score of 41.

(9/11/09) - After weather washed out their opening game of the season, the Crusaders hit the course and played their first full match of the season and recored a victory over CFCA 195-223 at Forest Lake Golf Club.  The average of 195 was the lowest score for the Crusaders (1-0) in the last 4 years. 

Next match:
The Crusaders play Tuesday (9/15/09) and Wednesday (9/16/09) on their home course at Rio Pinar Country Club against Orlando Christian Prep and Montverde Academy, respectively.  Matches tee off at 4pm both days.


Middle School Volleyball
The Lady Crusaders beat Eastland Christian 2-1 in the opening game of the Faith Christian MS Volleyball league on Saturday September 5.

The results weren't so good in their match against Calvary Christian (Ormond Beach) as the Lady Crusaders lost at home 2-0.

Saturday, September 12 vs Page Private School, Noon @ Faith Christian Academy.


Swimming
Shea qualifies for States!

 
11/9/09 - Congratulations to senior Meaghan Shea who qualifed for the FHSAA Class 1A State Finals in the 500 Freestyle after a fantastic Regional Finals performance on Saturday November 7. 
 
Swimming in the Regional Finals of two events, Shea improved her time in the 200 and 500 Freestyle. She dropped 4 seconds on her 200 Freestyle, swimming a 2:03 for a 4th place finish.  Then, she DROPPED 14 seconds on her 500 Freestyle time and went a 5:27, finishing 3rd and qualifying for the State competition! 
 
The Class 1A State Finals are Saturday November 14 at the YMCA Aquatic Center just off of International Drive.  Preliminary meets will start at 9am and Meaghan's 500 Freestyle event is Event 15, which should start some time close to 10am.

Crusader Swimmers Compete in Districts

11/2/09 - Congratulations to the OLA Swimming Team on their performances at Districts on Saturday, and the season of firsts for many this past year. Here are some results from Saturday's District meet:

Meaghan Shea, senior, qualified for regionals in the 500m freestyle with a 6th place finish time of 5:43.17, and the 200m freestyle with a 6th place finish time of 2:08.44.

Erin Harvill, sophomore, won her 100m breaststroke heat in 1:32, knocking 4 seconds off her personal best time. Erin finished 19 out of 32 overall, just missing the finals alternate spot.

Matt Stapp, senior, swam 27.97 in the 50m freestyle and 1:07 in the 100m freestyle - 1 second faster than his best time.

JuliAnne Rach, 6th grader, finished second in her 50 yard freestyle heat. She set a new personal best knocking 3.5 seconds off her time, and beat 3 freshmen in the heat!


(9/10/09)  OLA's Swimming Team had their opening season meet Wednesday at the Oviedo Aquatic Center against larger and more experienced teams such as Oviedo, Hagarty, and Bishop Moore.


Unfazed by the opponents, the Crusaders improved their times and found themselves feeling more confident as the day went along.
 
Senior Meaghan Shea won 2nd place in the 500 Freestyle and 3rd place in the 200 Freestyle.
 
Personal Records were set by Matt Stapp, Chance Sweat, Kiyah White, Erin Harvill, Kelly McDaniel and JuliAnne Rach.
 
Top three most improved times were:
Stapp dropping 27 seconds on his 100 freestyle
Rach dropping 23 seconds on her 100 freestyle
White dropping 21 seconds on his 50 freestyle

Cross Country
The Cross Country team is in preseason mode.  Runners compete in their second preseason meet of the year at Palm Bay Regional Park in the South Broward CC Jamboree Saturday September 12 at 8:00am.

 

Middle School Soccer
CONGRATULATIONS to the Middle School Soccer Team who won their first game in recent years by dominating their first home game of the year Tuesday night against Faith-Eustis Lutheran school.
 
The Crusaders, now 1-1 on the year, dominating play was led by Samuel Norris, who had his first career hat trick scoring three goals in the effort. Anthony Bonilla added two more as the Crusaders would take a 5-0 lead and go on to win 5-1.
 
Special mention for their outstanding play and excellent teamwork on offense and defense to Harrison Jarman Dominic BrignoniChase Rystrand, Ben Ortt and Anya Rallison!
 
Congratulations again Crusaders! Come out and support them Tuesday against Faith Christian Academy at 6:00pm!
